これは、まだ未熟な、青二才の、経験の浅い、嘴（くちばし）が黄色い、

尻が青い、という意味です。

生まれたての子牛の耳の後ろが濡れている様子から転じて、

新人で世間知らず、特定の仕事に不慣れな人を指します。

例えば、

He's still a bit wet behind the ears, so be patient with him.

彼はまだ少し世間知らずなので、辛抱強く接してあげてください。

Don't expect too much from him; he's still wet behind the ears.（彼に多くを

期待しないで、彼はまだ青二才だから。

That new employee is a little wet behind the ears.

あの新入社員はまだ少し未熟だ。
