the last straw とは最後の頼りにならないものの

頼るしかない事を示します。日本語と少し意味がずれるのは

「堪忍袋の緒が切れる」の表現に当たるところです。

つまり、「我慢の限界」を意味します。

例えば

Ok, this is the last straw. I'm leaving.

もう我慢の限界だ、私はここを出ていく。

That's the last straw.

もう我慢の限界だ。

You've been late three times in a row. This is the last straw.

3回連続で遅刻しているね。もう我慢の限界だ。

After months of late deliveries, the broken package was the last straw.」:

何か月も配達が遅れていたのに、壊れた荷物がついに限界だった。
