馬の前に荷車を置く話

 ”put the cart before the horse"と言います「荷車を馬の前に置く」のです。

前後が逆で本末転倒であることを意味します。馬がカートを引くのにカートが馬の前にあっては引けないわけです。よく使う表現です。

例えば、

「景気を良くする前に分配するのは本末転倒です。」

"it's a case of putting the cart before the horse to distributing social wealth prior to facing favorable business climate."

また、

「最初に社会を正せという人がいｒますが、それは本末転倒です。」

" Some say society should be corrected first, but that is to put the cart before the horse."

会話でも簡単に「順番が逆だよ。」

" Don't put the card before the horse."ともよく言います。
